Iran Earthquake Strongest Over 50 Years

IRAN - A major earthquake that struck Iran described as the strongest for more than half a century. The earthquake flattened homes and even offices.

An earthquake in Iran-Pakistan border that killed at least 46 people in sparsely populated areas, even helped "wiggle" building in New Delhi, India.

Iran's Red Crescent organization said is facing a "state of emergency" because many of the villages and valleys scattered in remote hills affected by the quake.

Iran's official news agency, ISNA, reported that at least 7.7 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale (SR) as the strongest earthquake in more than 50 years. A media in Iran, Press TV, even calling it a "great earthquake."

Excerpted from the Huffington Post, Tuesday (04/16/2013), this is also the second deadly earthquake that hit Iran in less than a week after an earthquake measuring 6.1 magnitude struck near Bushehr, Iran in the Persian Gulf.

The first quake killed at least 37 people so make Iran an international safety inspectors call because the location of the earthquake was near a single nuclear reactor Iran. Press TV said the quake was centered near Saravan, approximately 50 kilometers (26 miles) from the border with Pakistan.
